Guidelines and Key Manuscripts

Explanatory Note: The material listed on this page has been identified as important references that may be useful for the study of pathology by a variety of sources (e.g., test development committee members, ABPath Cooperating Society members, etc.).  The inclusion of material on this site constitutes recommendations of material that may be beneficial to the trainees and practitioners in various subspecialties in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Inclusion does not represent an endorsement by the American Board of Pathology and exclusion should not be viewed as disapproval. It is simply not possible to include all relevant material. Textbooks are purposefully not included, with a few exceptions (e.g., WHO documents).

Some guidance documents may be more relevant for fellow-level trainees than pathology residents; review of these recommendations with individual course directors is recommended. If there is a conspicuous absence of an important guideline or manuscript thought to be key for resident/fellow learning, please contact ABPath at [email protected]. These recommendations will be reviewed by our Test Development and Advisory Committees for potential inclusion.
